I think it was a good hire in the sense that it shows Battle was willing to extend outside of the mid-major arena for a coach.
The name brand of a former NBA player and coach/ESPN analyst could prove nice in recruiting, but I will admit that it isn't ridiculous at all to have doubts about whether he can transition to a college job with no bumps in the road.
I would say that I'm optimistic and Battle did very well after missing on our top target, but I won't pretend that it's a move that carries no risk of failure.
