I say someone, chan preferably, setup an account and let us donate now and then do a poll as to whether save the files or start fresh. Have it depend on how much money gets donated. Another question we need to solve. How the fuck do we know it's really Chan or GFA setting it up and not one of these retarded mod-trolls that are over here. I'm friends with a few posters IRL but not either of them. I do have broXlift's contact info and I think he is IRL friends with GFA. Maybe I should ask him to find out what GFA's name is over here. |

Depending on the costs/efforts involved, I think saving the administrative & user data would be worthwhile, just so the board settings/rules/framework doesn't have to be recreated. I'm with everyone else though on the threads, if too much effort (in time or money) is required, let the old threads die.

We already have a new server. Now we could probably update our software a little more without having legacy stuff to carry over and worry about but shouldn't make a huge difference in the new server whether we recover what we can or not. Just want to provide the most info I can.

if i understand that fork bomb thing correctly, it's not surprising that the disks ended up being fucked (as it would put the cpu and the hard drives under 100% load). if nothing else maybe this means poweshow will get his wish of there being a need for lots of new threads. it was you, wasn't it? |
