To the best of my knowledge as I am totally not chan here is what happened.
Sun -Originally for some reason MySQL went down (database, pretty important). So we restarted the server to get it running again like we usually do. Only this time it all went to shit for some reason.
We opened a support ticket and after about 8 hours we finally got it sent far enough up the chain that real people were helping.
Mon - Was told a drive was failing and the server was so compromised from an attack we needed to get a new server. Only then we got fork bombed which basically is an attack that eats up all the server resources. Not fun. So the server was taken down, put in rescue mode and had our files moved to a new drive for me to download.
Tues - This download continues at a glacial pace. Finally I get a call while at my real job from the host saying they fucked up in their support and want to make it right. They say they will get us a brand new sparkling server and move stuff for us.
Today - The download still hasn't finished. About an hour ago our new server was deployed. The DNS settings were updated so it may take a few days for some of you to get the site to load even when its back up. As of about 5 minutes ago they are moving data so hopefully by Fri we are back. I can't make any promises because its mostly out of my hands. I updated everything I could and have tried to not kill someone or myself over the last few days.
In short I'm exhausted and thankfully tomorrow is my day off (other than meetings with contractors and equipment people and bank trips). I'll post updates here and I update tigers to post on facebook as well. GFA is on a work trip somewhere so I'll be the one handling this.
