**Taklin ‘Bout Practice … Spring Practice at the WHAC. ‘Tis the season. We will get some more from Urban Meyer today as he meets with the media after practice.
But that is not the only way to get an idea of what is going on as the quest to repeat gets underway. A close source of ours offered up the following based on what he has seen leading up to today.
- Marshon Lattimore, while participating in most of team drills, is still not 100-percent in the eyes of the coaches. Word is he won't be fully cleared until after spring practices. Coaches want to be smart with the former Cleveland Glenville star.
- There hasn't been much praise for junior defensive back Cam Burrows. It appears Burrows may be slipping down the depth chart in favor of Damon Webb (nickel), Erick Smith (safety) and even Malik Hooker (safety). It’s definitely something to watch.
- Praises continue to rain in for Noah Brown. He shed weight this offseason and is looking very good at wide receiver, according to our source. One defensive back on the team was overheard saying Brown and Corey Smith were the two most difficult to cover this spring.
- Speaking of Corey Smith, his praises continue to be sung … at times. Our source says there are days when he asks what Smith is even doing out there because of the mental lapses. But the source claims when Smith “is on” he is the best receiver on the team. What impressed our source so much was Smith's physicality and lack of fear to go head-to-head with any defensive player on the field.
- It looks like Johnnie Dixon is going to assume the "Devin Smith Role.” He’s been running the patented 9-route and has looked very good in doing so.
