My fortune cookie today read "Discriminating mind leads you in the proper direction"
My immediate thought was "looks like we're going to Indiana this weekend"

The President is visiting Louisville today. Our drivers do a ton of work and driving in, through and around Louisville. I get to listen to a bunch of truck drivers from KY tell me how convenient the President they all love so much is making their lives today! Yay. My wife used to think that the Libertarian Party was a truck drivers union, because of the bumper stickers.

So we've reached an Iran nuke framework which will reduce the number of number of nuclear centrifuges in Iran and will allow inspectors. We will relax some of the sanctions.
My God, what if we end up actually, gasp, gaining some level of trust between the nations?

We are going to sit around and wait and let John Kerry and the rest of the executive branch pat themselves on the back for this "achievement" right up to the point when Iran detonates a nuclear warhead right in the middle of Tel Aviv. Then we will know the amount of trust we can place in Iran.

I really, really dont want to go to war with Iran. If this agreement does nothing but restrict some hawkish administration from gaining an opportunity to lie to the public about what's going on there, then this is probably as important of a thing as this administration has ever done
war with iran would be about 10x worse than iraq

Just take a hard line with them. Don't negotiate with them. Russia, China, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and damn near every other country that we have at least half ass relations with would fall in line with harsh sanctions. The problem is that right now, today, Iran knows that we are afraid or unwilling to take a hard stance against them and they are pushing us wherever they want us to go. Our foreign policy is soft and Iran knows it and is taking advantage.
Make no mistake. Iran wants to become a nuclear power. And Iran wants to obliterate Israel. And today, Iran knows that the US government is afraid or unwilling to take measures to stop either.

It's almost like you said a bunch of abstract stuff you could never prove or measure. I can't prove that the above nations would support harsh sanctions. And I can't prove that Iran can or will become a nuclear power.
But their supreme leader has said in the past that they intend to achieve nuclear capability, and he has called for the destruction of Israel consistently for over a decade, as did his predecessor. So yeah, I think the likelihood of my scenario is more probable than the likelihood that we can somehow trust Iran to live up to this so called agreement going forward.

And if they don't, the sanctions come back. Seems pretty simple.

How does anything we've done, further threaten Israel? Why do I care about Israel?

How does anything we've done, further threaten Israel? Why do I care about Israel? You should care about Israel for 2 main reasons...
1 - Israel is the United States #1 ally in the middle east which is always the most unstable area on the planet.
2 - If Israel is the target of a nuclear attack, the probability of the United States avoiding a war with Iran is absolutely zero. And the probability that such a war becomes multinational and in essence another World War is over 50%.

What does Israel do for us? What other countries would we be fighting against that would cause it to be a world war?

You have a lot of weird hypotheticals and big jumps to conclusions in your posts. What exactly do these negotiations do to threaten Israel?

What does Israel do for us? What other countries would we be fighting against that would cause it to be a world war? Israel is our ally, has been since at least the 1970s. Whether you believe in the right to exist for the nation of Israel or not, the statement that they are our biggest ally in the Middle East is fact.
Off the top of my head, if Iran attacks Israel with a nuclear weapon, Syria will certainly jump in. Probably Jordan. Likely Lebanon. At which point, the massive destabilization in that region (which will be much worse than usual which is bad enough in normal circumstances) will create energy issues with oil production, which could drag countries like Russia and China into the fray in some form due to their need for Middle East oil. And honestly, it is uncertain what side Russia or China would take in such a scenario, ours or Irans. Britain and Canada and other allies would likely get drawn in at some point on our side.
Basically, it is a shit storm that any American does not want to see.

1) I merely asked what Israel did for us. If they're an undeniably great ally, you should be able to name lots of great things they've done for us. 2) Interesting that you simultaneously believe that Russia or China might fight a fucking war against us, but feel confident that they would join in sanctions agains Iran. That is completely ridiculous.

Israel is our #1 ally in the ME due to the unconditional support we've given them. I'd argue that if we gave the same support to several other ME countries over an extended period of time we'd receive a similar level of cooperation. Also, I don't think it's wrong to question just how strong of an ally Israel really is considering the shit fit Netanyahu started throwing as soon as the President stopped giving into every single one of his demands.

allying with Israel is also the one thing that everyone else in the middle east unanimously hates the US for doing. every muslim country has unique reasons, but they all hate the US for that one

It is about damn time we start some relations with Iran, and happy we could lessen the sanctions. Many people in Iran want to have economic ties with the US, but for so long both governments just didn't see eye to eye. Diplomacy is a nice change from the typical war mongering.

I hope this works. Remember when I said the President visited Louisville today? Well, the highway was shut down so his motorcade could go from the airport to his destination. You know, like what happens whenever a President goes ANYWHERE? Well a lady stuck in the stopped traffic had her baby. The Facebook uproar is awesome, and completely what you'd expect. Let's see if this embeds EDIT: nope, didn't work. Here's the facebook page. scroll til you find the story. www.facebook.com/wlkynews?fref=nf
