I am in a pool where you pick five guys - two of which can be in the top 10 in the OWGR.
I am going with Stenson and Spieth for my two guys in the Top Ten.
I am not sure who to pick outside the top ten....any advice?

One of these days Lee Westwood is going to stop choking and win one.
Last 5 finishes starting in 2010: 2, 11, 3, 8, 7
Pretty good choice for outside the T10 in WGR for any kind of contest. The guy is good at Augusta

AUBeast08 Right now, maybe. I'm inconsistent from lack of practice. Good day: mid 70s. 6 years ago, definitely with a good shot at even or better. I shot 73 from the Open tees at Pinehurst No. 2 back then. I'd say Pinehurst is definitely tougher too.
Maroon Golf Yes way. I'm about a 2. Would expect to break 85. Play well and I'd break 80. The course is tough but it's the pressure of the major that makes it much tougher. Thing about those greens is they're fast but you can make a lot of putts on them as well. Solid short game and keep it on the map off the tee out there and it's doable. I'm assuming I have a little time to get a feel for the greens and get a caddy as well.
Maroon Golf It depends what the strength of your game is too not just handicap. Fast greens are actually easier to putt if you know what you're doing. Probably make you look dumb a couple times and can have no shot if you short side your self but you can make some too.
2010_champs Yeah I could. I agree with Keith. I played Sawgrass from the tips and shot 77 (was only +1 after 9 holes and I started getting a lot of phone calls on 10 that my house and truck had been broken into and stolen so I shot +4 on the back 9) going to back and try it again soon enough. But Augusta is very open and I love fast greens as well. I have so much spin on my balls that I have trouble with most courses. So I would gladly accept that challenge. Just too bad I will never play it.
some guy tries to bring reason in
LittleE
I've played the game for 45 years, most of the time at a pretty high amateur level. National tournaments and all. What I've found out over all these years playing this game is that, most golfers feel they are better than they really are. I've been guilty of it myself. Until you play one of these championship courses under tournament conditions... You realize how really good these tour players really are. And, you're not as close to them in ability as you think...Even though you may be a scratch player.
Maroon Golf Well yeah they're a lot better. That's why they shoot -5 out there if they play well and I'd shoot 78 if I did the same. Every one of those guys is shooting under par in the p rounds.
Maroon Golf Yeah guess there's some good players chiming in but people giving the course a little too much credit. The greens are small and undulating but it's not like you have to hit a world class shot to hold a green or cozy a chip shot up there. US Open greens are generally firmer and just as fast. The rough out there is nicer than most fairways.
