I'm looking at taking vacation and using miles for it in June. Trying to decide where to go. I have enough to apparently fly first class from JFK to Prague (but it goes through Moscow which is kind of scary).
I almost have enough to fly first class to Thailand, just for the first class experience.
Or I could just fly normal and go either back to Prague or somewhere else in Europe.

Eh not that many. I have right at 140K. For some reason first class trips to Thailand are only 140K, while most to Europe are 200K plus. Except the one to Prague that goes through Moscow.

You want to try to maximize your travel experience with miles, so if you're planning to go to Asia again in the near future then use your miles there. When I went to Thailand the second time it was 15 hours DFW-Tokyo then 6 hours Tokyo-Bangkok. Conversely it's what? 9 hours from the east coast to Prague? Throw in a few more hours for connecting thru Moscow and the 2nd flight and you're still spending a lot more miles for much shorter flights.

Not sure if Buckets and/or 47skrate have found this place yet. Kicking around the idea of Iceland for NYE still. Have nothing planned from August 2015 until July 2016; that's way too long without a trip. Re: your trip, don't let your friends going or not going dictate whether you go. I know I preach it a lot, but traveling by yourself is awesome. I tried for a year to recruit friends to go to Thailand, but nobody bit. If I would've let that stop me I wouldn't have gone. Yea, it's awesome to have your friends, but don't that be the ultimate factor. |

So I can do round trip from Nashville to Sydney for 100k miles. That seems like a no brainer to me. I've never been, it's not all my miles, and Australia is on my bucket list.

If you talk a lot and they know you're a know-nothing tourist they'll try to overcharge you by A LOT. Had a taxi take my group like 1 mile last summer and he tried to charge us like $100usd (loose conversion). He was like, "this is a private taxi, not a yellow cab. Prices are different." I told him that was bullshit and threw him the equivalent of $20 and told him to keep the change. (I likely called him a faggot, too, but I don't really remember). |

As I told you, I'd also look into NZ or Cape Town if you're going that far and don't have a lot of time. If the deal to Sydney is that much better than go with that, but Sydney is P expensive. |

The one time I took a taxi in Prague was when a group of us left the strip club. We showed him our wrist bands with the address of the hostel on it, he proceeded to drop us off on the other side of the river, in what I assume was a rough area. We hightailed it across the first bridge we came too.
Last cab I took there.
